The school calendar
The calendar is a shared view of all school events, visible to teachers and parents.
Creating an event
- Open Calendar in the top bar. The page title is School Calendar.
- Click Add to Calendar, or click a date.
- Fill in:
- Title -- a short name for the event.
- Date and time -- when the event starts and ends.
- Location -- where the event takes place (optional).
- Description -- additional details.
- Visibility -- school-wide or specific classrooms.
Event visibility
- School-wide events are visible to everyone at the school.
- Classroom events are only visible to teachers and parents in that classroom.
Recurring events
For events that repeat (weekly meetings, monthly gatherings):
- When creating an event, check Repeats.
- Under Repeat every, choose a number and a unit: days, weeks, months, or years. For example, every 2 weeks.
- Under Until, choose the date the repeats stop. The end date is required.
Calendar feeds
Click the share icon on the calendar page.
- Your calendar is your own calendar as a link for Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook. Every parent and teacher has the same option on their calendar page.
- School calendar is the whole school's read-only feed. Copy Calendar feed URL to share it. Regenerate link replaces it; anyone using the old link needs the new one.
Managing events
- Edit an event to change its details.
- Delete an event to remove it from the calendar. Events cannot be marked as cancelled, so delete one that is called off.
Tips
- Add important dates (parent-teacher conferences, holidays, early dismissals) at the start of each term.
- Use classroom-specific events for things like field trips that only involve one group.
- Keep event descriptions brief but informative.
