The enrollment state machine
Every child's enrollment follows a clear path through these states:

States explained
- Applied -- the family submitted an application. The child is waiting for review.
- Waitlisted -- you are not ready to approve or reject the application. The child stays in your queue for a future decision.
- Approved -- you approved the application. The child appears in your roster and is ready to be assigned to a classroom.
- Active -- the child is assigned to a classroom and is currently enrolled.
- Inactive -- the child has graduated, withdrawn, or left the school.
- Rejected -- you rejected the application.

What each state means for the roster
- Applied, Waitlisted, and Rejected children do not appear on any classroom roster.
- Approved children appear in the children roster but not on a classroom roster.
- Active children appear on their classroom roster.
- Inactive children are hidden from the active roster but their data is preserved.
Tips
- Use the "Inactive" status instead of deleting children. This preserves their history.
- You can reactivate an inactive child at any time (for example, if they return after a break).
- The enrollment status is visible to parents on their child's profile.
