Setting up after-school clubs

Create clubs with a schedule and fee, assign instructors, and approve membership requests.

What is a club?

A club is an after-school activity that runs alongside your classrooms: chess, soccer, art, and the like. Children join a club separately from their classroom, and families subscribe their own children to the clubs you offer.

Creating a club

  1. Go to the Clubs tab on your school dashboard.
  2. Click Create club.
  3. Fill in:
    • Name -- what the club is called (for example "Chess Club").
    • Schedule -- the days and times the club meets.
    • Fee -- free, or a paid amount families are charged to join.
    • Approval -- whether a child can join right away or whether a membership request needs your approval first.
  4. Save the club.

Clubs

Free versus paid clubs

A free club has no charge to join. A paid club has a fee, and joining creates a charge for the family the same way a product subscription does. See products, pricing, and subscriptions for how charges are billed.

Assigning instructors

Each club can have one or more instructors. Open the club and assign the staff who run it. Instructors get access to the club's roster.

Approving membership requests

If a club requires approval, a parent's request to join does not take effect until you act on it.

  1. Open the club.
  2. Review the pending membership requests.
  3. Approve the request to add the child to the club, or reject it.

For clubs that do not require approval, children join as soon as a parent subscribes them.

What parents do

Parents subscribe their children to clubs from their own Clubs tab. They see the clubs you offer, the schedule, and any fee, and they choose which clubs to join. If a club requires approval, the parent sees the request as pending until you approve it.

Tips

  • Set approval on for clubs with limited space so you control the roster.
  • Keep the schedule accurate, since families plan pickups around it.
  • Use a clear fee so parents know the cost before they subscribe.
