CommunicationMessaging teachers
Send messages to your child's teachers and school community.
Messaging
FutureNerds includes a built-in messaging system so you can communicate with your child's classroom.
Getting there
Click the messages icon (speech bubble) in the top navigation bar. If your child is in one classroom, you go directly to the chat. If you have children in multiple classrooms, you see a grid of classroom boards.
How messaging works
Each classroom has one shared message board. All parents in the classroom and the assigned teachers can see every message. This keeps communication transparent and helps the whole classroom community stay informed.
Sending a message
- Open your classroom's message board.
- Type your message in the compose box at the bottom.
- Press Enter to send (or Shift+Enter for a new line).
- Messages support basic formatting: bold, italics, links, and lists.
Notifications
When you receive a new message:
- You see an unread count on the messages icon in the top navigation bar.
- You receive an email notification (unless you have turned off email notifications in your notification settings).
What to message about
Good reasons to send a message:
- Your child will be absent or late.
- You have a question about something in the classroom.
- You want to share relevant information (allergies, family changes, etc.).
- You want to schedule a conference.
Tips
- Keep messages brief and clear.
- For urgent matters (child is sick, immediate pickup needed), call the school directly.
- All messages are visible to other parents in the classroom and to staff.
