Progress and observations
FutureNerds gives you real-time visibility into your child's learning and development.
Viewing observations
- Go to your child's profile.
- Click the School Records tab.
- You see a list of observations recorded by your child's teacher, sorted by date. Only observations the teacher has shared with parents are shown.
Each observation includes:
- Date -- when the observation was recorded.
- Category -- the learning area (Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Cultural, or Social-Emotional).
- Description -- what the teacher saw your child doing.
Understanding developmental milestones
Click the Progress tab on your child's profile to see:
- A summary of all learning areas.
- For each area, a list of milestones with the current status:
- Not Yet Presented -- your child has not been introduced to this skill yet.
- Presented -- the teacher has introduced this skill to your child.
- Practicing -- your child is working on this skill independently.
- Mastered -- your child can do this consistently without help.
Your school may use different labels for these levels. The meaning is the same.
What the levels mean
Montessori education follows the child's pace. It is normal for children to be at different levels in different areas. "Practicing" is a positive status -- it means your child is actively working on the skill.
Tips
- Check observations weekly to stay connected with what your child is doing at school.
- If you have questions about an observation, message the teacher.
- Milestones are updated regularly as teachers record progress during work cycles.
